NCC radio regulation changes and the ROHS mandate of the BSMI certification

Taiwan NCC Radio Regulation changes

With the improvement in technology, wireless products range has increased, that includes wireless technologies like WiFi, Bluetooth, and various wireless electronic devices. The Taiwan National communications commission (NCC) demands approval and qualifying certification for radio-frequency equipment to ensure safe and steady operation of the devices. All products able to connect to the public switched communications network, and products emitting radio frequency require approval and registration before they can be sold in Taiwan. This requirement comes from the national body of communications in Taiwan (NCC).

There are few changes in the NCC certification, which are as below,

  1. Any change to descriptions of accreditation certificate, except for the addition or removal of test category, certification type and certification item mentioned in the preceding paragraph, shall be reported to NCC for resistance within 15 days after the change; the original accreditation certificate shall be attached when reporting the change. The validity of the reissued accreditation certificate shall be the same as the original one.
  2. Printing NCC logo is mandatary on both the product and the package. It is to be noted that earlier, it was printed only on the product
  3. Products which has already passed NCC certifications are not affected or need no change. However, from September 6th 2017, the changes in NCC comes applicable for new products

Silex Adds Dual Band Functionality to its 802.11ac PCIe Card

Silex has recently added dual band functionality to its 802.11ac PCIe Wi-Fi card. The SX-PCEAC-DB is now an 802.11ac compliant dual-band 3x3 PCIe Mini Card. It is based on the Qualcomm Atheros QCA9880 chipset, designed to deliver wireless data rates of up to 1.3Gbps. It targets home and enterprise wireless access points, offering reliable wireless performance for a variety of bandwidth-intensive video-over-wireless applications.

SX-PCEAC-DB card gives customers the ability to easily and reliably support applications where this extra bandwidth and performance is required, like deploying HD video over Wi-Fi. Applications include commercial AP, routers, gateways, large-size printers, video devices, medical devices etc.

[JASDAQ (6679)] announced last week in Japan that Murata Machinery Ltd.’s (Muratec) completed the successful tender offer for its common stock. The successful bid, coupled with subsequent transactions that will allow Muratec to acquire all shares of Silex Technology making Silex a wholly owned subsidiary of Muratec, a private Japanese-held company.
